The library at Human and Hope Association is open from 2:30 pm – 5 pm on weekdays and 8 am to 11 am every Sunday. It is managed by HHA’s Education and Library Assistant who educates the students on treating the books with respect, encourages them to share the resources and assists them with their reading. Without this library, the students wouldn’t have access to new and updated information.
The students can often be found practising their Khmer and English using flashcards, reading storybooks, learning words from the dictionary, completing puzzles or playing their favourite games, chess and Connect 4. On Fridays, they are provided with colouring in pages and pencils so they can colour to their heart’s desire.
The library also doubles as a classroom, providing a fun, interactive learning environment for staff workshops every Sunday.
*Srey graduated from our preschool class in 2014. At the end of 2015 she came back to HHA to study in our Khmer language classes. She was very shy at first, but started attending the library after class each day. Through the library she made a few friend and came out of her shell.
Srey now rushes to the library every day, and even when she is sick she tells her mother, “I don’t want to miss out on my study at HHA.”
