Martine Rose Steals Your Nan’s Bedding For Her FW22 Quilted Double-Frill Scarf

Posted on October 8, 2022November 9, 2022 by Gray, 1922 views

Martine Rose‘s Fall/Winter 2022 collection, titled “Somewhere Between Work and Sleep,” delivers just what it says on the tin. With a range that bridged the gap between not wanting to get up for your shift and then in fact turning it out in style, everything from faux fur pimp coats and car coats clashed with daring pink suits, relaxed tailored pants, and shirts that subverted the norm. But leaning more towards the longing of sleep were items like the quilted double-frill scarf, and now the piece has arrived in its “Green Floral” colorway.

If you grew up in the U.K., you might recognize this kind of material — or perhaps consider the garment itself — as a piece of childhood nostalgia, looking similar to the kind of bedding your grandma might have. Here, satin-like qualities come together on a frilly quilted piece, sporting scalloped edges in orange and a jacquard design that harks back to a slower pace of life.

The piece, which is designed to be tied at the front, falls down in a triangular manner at the rear that only accentuates its bedding undertones. While evidently serving a softer side to menswear (something we’ve seen consistently across fashion month with fellow London designers like Simone Rocha and S.S. Daley), the piece is perfectly styled alongside Rose’s own oversized bomber jacket and slim-fit denim that continues the subversion.

Take a look at the Martine Rose quilted double-frill scarf in “Green Floral” above, and purchase the runway-ready accessory online now for £445 GBP (approx. $504 USD).

In other news, Y/Project’s JPG collaboration has finally dropped.
