Following its recent team-up with Roland Lifestyle and James Lavelle, PLEASURES has now returned with another celebration of music. The latest collaboration honors the enduring legacy of Genesis P-Orridge (February 22, 1950–March 14, 2020), a legendary singer-songwriter, musician, writer, occultist, cultural engineer, and visual artist.
P-Orridge co-founded and fronted the pioneering industrial band Throbbing Gristle and the experimental multi-media outfit Psychic TV, before embarking on the Pandrogyne Project with partner Lady Jaye. PTV3, an iteration of Psychic TV, would also be the moniker s/he performed under continuing a push to liberate love and pure consciousness from the confines of a gender-conforming body. Aside from being wildly important in the music world, Genesis P-Orridge held a prolific career as an artist, with contributions to the Fluxus, mail art, collage, sound poetry, and conceptual art movements.
Building on P-Orridge’s belief in intentional collaborations in music, art, and life, PLEASURES worked closely with the Estate of Genesis P-Orridge/Psychic TV to continue the long-held tradition from he/r legacy. The collaborative collection serves as a visual clothing presentation highlighting the life and legacy of the artist and Psychic TV. Iconic motifs are featured on street-leaning wares like a bomber jacket, hoodies, short sleeve shirts, T-shirts, sweatpants, balaclava and more.
On November 3, the PLEASURES presents “When Lone Wolves Gather….” exhibition at HVW8 Gallery in Los Angeles will present selected works of Genesis P-Orridge and unveil the collection. The Psychic TV x PLEASURES collection will then see a wider global release on PLEASURES’ website and at select retailers starting November 4.
